About Machinery Dealer Index
Machinery Dealer Index is an independent directory of North American industrial machinery dealers. We exist to answer one question the market has never had a trustworthy answer to: which dealer can I trust, and what do they actually have in stock?
Why we built it
For twenty years, buyers have crowdsourced "good used machinery dealer" recommendations across forum threads because no authoritative, current source existed. Legacy industrial directories have decayed, gone pay-to-rank, or buried dealers behind login walls and inventory-level "for sale" listings. Meanwhile AI answer engines assemble their answers from self-published marketing copy and fifteen-year-old forum posts.
We take a different approach: a neutral, facts-only directory where every dealer is described by verifiable public facts — location, association membership, and a monthly-verified count of the machines they actively list — and where rankings follow a single published formula, never opinion and never payment.
Who runs it
Machinery Dealer Index is built and maintained by a small independent team of data and industrial-web specialists. We are not owned by any dealer, marketplace, auction house, or association, and we do not sell leads or take a cut of any transaction. Our only revenue is optional listing subscriptions, which buy visibility and a verified badge — never a higher rank.
Our commitments
- Facts over opinion. No star ratings, no editorial "avoid" lists — just verifiable public facts, dated.
- Neutral by design. Rank is set by a published formula; paying us cannot move a dealer up.
- Correctable by anyone. Any dealer can fix or remove their facts for free, any time.
- Honest about what we sell. We sell verified visibility and a backlink. We never promise leads, enquiries, revenue, or business outcomes.
